I wanted to try Impasto after viewing work by Korean artist Li Sonsong. Impasto, to quote wikipedia is ‘A technique used in painting, where pain is laid on an area of the surface (or the entire canvas) very thickly, usually thickly enough that the brush or painting/knife strokes are visible’
This was my first time trying it. It didn’t work, Im not really a fan of the style and I dont find it very energetic. And besides it uses up to much paint I almost used a whole 75ml tube of oil paint doing a small bit of canvas. The final result has a sort of ‘reverting back to secondary school’ sort of feel. Definatly if I try it again it will have to be on a much larger scale.
